Privacy Policy
I. Introduction
BackflowTech owns and controls the backflowtech.com domain. This Privacy Policy describes how BackflowTech (“we,” “us,” “our,” or the “Company”) collects, uses, and shares Personal Information related to our online information gathering and dissemination practices in connection with our website, backflowtech.com (the “Site”), and any Personal Information we may collect through the Site or by other means.
Please carefully read this entire Privacy Policy before providing us with any Personal Information. By using our Site and submitting any information, you acknowledge and consent to the collection, transfer, processing, and storage of information as described herein. We will, from time to time, update this Privacy Policy as we undertake new personal data practices or adopt new privacy policies.
Questions regarding this Privacy Policy may be directed to [email protected].
II. Personal Information We Collect
The following describes the categories of Personal Information we may collect, the sources from which we collect it, the purposes for which we collect it, and those with whom we may share it.
A. Information You Provide Directly
We collect Personal Information from you when you register or create an account on our Site. The Personal Information we collect directly from you includes:
- Email address — Used to identify your account and send transactional messages.
- Password — Stored as a one-way cryptographic hash. We never store or transmit your plaintext password.
We do not collect your first name, last name, phone number, date of birth, or physical address. We do not store or retain credit card or other billing information. Any online payments are processed by our third-party payment processor and are governed by that processor’s separate privacy policy.
B. Information Collected Through Your Use of the Site
(i) Information Collected Automatically
Unlike most websites, BackflowTech does not log or store IP addresses. We do not collect precise geolocation data. Standard server logs may capture browser type, device type, operating system, and the pages you view, solely for the purposes of diagnosing technical issues and maintaining service security.
(ii) Analytics Information
We use analytics tools to understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the Service. All analytics data is anonymized and aggregated. We implement Consent Mode — if you decline analytics, no tracking identifiers are set and no behavioral data is collected about your session. For more information, see Section V.
C. Retention Periods
We retain Personal Information no longer than necessary for the purposes stated in this policy, unless extending the retention period is required or permitted by law, including any obligations related to actual or potential litigation, government investigations, or dispute resolution.
III. How We Use Information We Collect
We may use the Personal Information we collect in the following ways:
- To create and manage your account and verify your identity at login.
- To process and fulfill your subscription and respond to customer service requests.
- To send transactional emails such as subscription receipts and password resets.
- To improve our Service through anonymized, aggregated analytics — only with your consent.
- To comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
IV. We Never Sell Your Data
BackflowTech does not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer your Personal Information to third parties for their own use, unless we provide you with advance notice and you consent. There have been no sales of Personal Information to third parties for their own use in the past twelve (12) months. We do not and will not sell Personal Information of minors under 16 years of age.
We may share Personal Information with vetted service providers (e.g., payment processor, analytics provider, hosting infrastructure) only to the extent necessary to operate BackflowTech, and only under strict data processing agreements that prohibit those providers from using your data for their own independent purposes.
V. Analytics & Consent Mode
We use analytics software to understand aggregate, anonymized usage patterns — such as which pages are visited most and which features are used most frequently. This helps us improve the Service over time.
We implement Consent Mode: if you decline analytics tracking when prompted, no tracking cookies or identifiers are set and no behavioral data is collected about your session. You may change your consent choice at any time using the cookie preference controls in the site footer.
Regardless of your consent status, we never collect or store your IP address. All analytics data we collect is anonymized and aggregated and cannot be used to identify you as an individual.
VI. Third-Party Services
We use a limited number of vetted third-party services to operate BackflowTech. We may provide your Personal Information to the following categories of service providers:
- Payment processor — Handles subscription billing. Receives your payment details directly — we never see or store full card numbers.
- Analytics provider — Receives anonymized, aggregated usage data only if you have consented via Consent Mode.
- Hosting & infrastructure — Servers and databases hosted with reputable cloud providers under data processing agreements.
We may also disclose Personal Information to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to protect the rights, property, or safety of BackflowTech or its users; or in connection with a sale, assignment, or transfer of all or a portion of our business or assets, in which case Personal Information may be transferred to the acquiring party.
VII. Data Retention
We retain your account data (email address and hashed password) for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your Personal Information is removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records related to a subscription) or necessary to resolve an active dispute or enforce our agreements.
Anonymized analytics data, which cannot be linked back to you, may be retained indefinitely for aggregate reporting purposes.
VIII. Protection of Your Personal Information
We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures to maintain the safety of your Personal Information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), one-way hashed password storage, and access controls limiting who on our team may access user data. However, no data security measures can be 100% secure. Any transmission of Personal Information is at your own risk.
IX. Your Rights
All users have the following rights with respect to their Personal Information. Colorado residents have additional protections under the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), C.R.S. § 6-1-1301 et seq.
- Access — Request a copy of the Personal Information we hold about you.
- Correction — Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion — Request that we delete your account and associated Personal Information.
- Portability — Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Opt out of analytics — Withdraw consent for analytics tracking at any time via our Consent Mode controls.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 45 days as required by the CPA.
X. Removing Your Account Information
To remove all of your account information from the Site, you may email [email protected] to request that your account be deleted and closed. Please note that we may maintain information about an individual transaction in order to service that transaction and for record keeping as required by law.
XI. Children’s Privacy
BackflowTech is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
XII. Terms of Use
This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and forms part of BackflowTech’s Terms of Use. Please also review our Terms of Use, which establish the use, disclaimers, and limitations of liability governing use of the Site. By using the Site, you consent to our Terms of Use. In the event of any conflict between this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use, this Privacy Policy shall control with respect to matters of data privacy.
XIII. Changes to Our Privacy Policy
We reserve the right — and may be required — to change this Privacy Policy at any time. Please refer to the date at the top of this page to determine when this Policy was last revised. Any changes to our Privacy Policy will become effective upon posting of the revised policy on the Site. By continuing to use the Site and Services following such changes, you will be deemed to have agreed to such changes.
XIV. Severability
If a court having competent jurisdiction declares any provision of this Privacy Policy invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be removed or limited to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions of this Privacy Policy shall remain in full force and effect.
